Walney Wind Cheetahs Running Group
We work to provide opportunities for members of the local community to participate in running to help promote their physical, mental and social well-being in a fun, safe and happy environment.
Walney Wind Cheetahs is a free, friendly and fun Running Group, based on Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness, South Cumbria. Currently we have 20 trained Run Leaders who assure you of a warm welcome whether you are new to running, returning after a break or an experienced runner. Our training runs incorporate repeats of running and walking ~ typically 8 minutes running followed by a 2 minute recovery walk. We are extremely adaptable and will take good care of you if you are a beginner who has not yet run this far! Everyone is encouraged to listen to their own body and progress at their own pace. Keeping you safe, happy and injury free is our top priority!
Walney Wind Cheetahs range in age from 4 years to late 70s; there really is something for everyone!
At times through the year we offer training programmes to take you from complete beginner to running 5k. Our most popular programme leads up to the annual Walney Fun Run (5k or 10k and Disability Run) which usually takes place on the last Sunday in June.
If you think you would like to join us, or to find out a bit more about us please find us on facebook and ask to join the facebook group. Or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org; alternatively, just turn up at any of our runs!
The Walney Wind Cheetahs facebook group has been set up so that members, aged 17 and over, can stay in touch with other members of the group, to talk and share information about all things running. Everybody is welcome from beginners to advanced. To join this group, follow the link to our facebook page then click “Ask to Join” in the top right hand corner of your screen.
